Read below new developments surrounding three high-profile estate planning matters.
Elvis Presley
An amended complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claims Priscilla Presley “exerted undue pressure” on Elvis Presley before he died. Priscilla Presley’s former business partners have added new claims about the late Elvis Presley to their lawsuit, including allegations that Priscilla was responsible for “pushing him to his death.” Former partners, Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, have filed a new version of a 2023 lawsuit, where they went after Priscilla for damages, fraud, and breach of contract. The two previously alleged that she took her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, off life support earlier that year.
Rupert Murdoch
A recent settlement over an irrevocable trust ensures that Rupert Murdoch’s conservative-media empire, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, will pass to his oldest son, Lachlan. Three of Murdoch’s other children will each receive $1.1 billion as part of the agreement. The deal clears the path for his son Lachlan to be heir to his vast media empire until at least 2050. The deal ends a family brawl over who will control one of the highest-profile global media groups and puts to rest questions of succession within the Murdoch family after its patriarch’s death.
Hulk Hogan
Late wrestler Hulk Hogan made his son Nick Hogan the sole beneficiary of his estate. Court documents reveal that the WWE Hall of Famer left behind $5 million in assets for Nick, while his daughter, Brooke Hogan, wasn’t listed as a beneficiary after she asked to be removed from his will. Hulk’s wife at the time of his death, Sky Daily, is listed as a surviving spouse. Brooke remarked, “His decision is no surprise to me. It’s what I asked for. My dad knows I’m a hard worker and I have been surviving without his money for a long, long time.”
